Introduction
The Sons of Italy Foundation Scholarship application period opens October 13, 2025, and closes at 5:00 PM on February 27, 2026. No materials will be accepted after this deadline and incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Eligibility
- Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens or green card holders, AND
- Individuals who trace their Italian ancestry to a parent or grandparent.
Please Note: Previous SIF scholarship winners are not eligible.
Application
Please complete all sections of the application. Required questions/fields are indicated by an asterisk (*).
Some scholarships are awarded based on your current level of education (high school senior, undergraduate or graduate/professional school) and your field of study. Please be specific when entering your academic information.
Essays are an important part of the evaluation process. Please take special care when composing your essays. If you are applying as an Italian language major, you may write Essay #2 in Italian. Note that use of AI generated essay content will result in disqualification.
Please upload official transcripts through the fall 2025 semester. Transcript requirements are as follows:
- High school seniors: high school transcripts;
- Freshman/sophomore undergraduate students: high school and undergraduate transcripts;
- Junior/senior undergraduate students: undergraduate transcripts;
- Graduate/professional school students: undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
Two letters of recommendation are required. Please follow instructions in the application to request letters. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure letter writers submit their letters prior to the deadline.
Process
1. Register
Click on the "Register" link and complete and submit the registration form.
2. Login
Login to the award with your email and password.
3. Create
Create your online application. For a list of required information and attachments, please review the Award Application Guide
4. Save
During the Call for Applications period, your application can be saved as DRAFT until all the required information is completed and attachments uploaded. As each section is complete, you will see a 
appear in the category tab when the application is saved. At any time, you can download and print your application by clicking on the 
icon in the Application Summary section.
5. Submit
On completion, save your Nomination as FINAL. Download and print a copy of your application for your records by clicking on the icon in the Application Summary section in the right column. Note: If an update is required prior to the Call for Applications period, you can make the update and resave as FINAL.
